Abstract

This research paper studied the electrical properties of Yttrium orthoferrite by substituting 50-mol percent of Co into the Fe-site. The crystalline morphology of the obtained compound, YFe0.5Co0.5O3, was studied using XRD and Rietveld refinement with FullProf software. A low-temperature solid-state reaction technique was used to make this compound. X-ray diffraction results indicate that the obtained compound has an orthorhombic structure with space group Pbnm. X-ray peak broadening analysis was used to evaluate crystallite size and strain using Williamson-Hall plots (W–H plot). FESEM with EDX data revealed the phase purity of the obtained compound. XPS studies showed the presence of multiple oxidation states of Fe and Co in the compound. The Nyquist plots show non-Debye-type behavior in all samples. The CBH (Correlated Barrier Hopping) Model was adopted to explain the conduction mechanism.
