Abstract
Recently,it was thought that cellular insulin resistance including endothelial cells, vascular smooth muscle cells and macrophage implicated that defective insulin signaling in atherosclerotic lesion cells promotes a series of altered cellular response events critical for advanced plaque progression. For example, the cellular insulin resistance in lesion plaque which decreased endothelial cell vasodilatation and vascular smooth muscle cells proliferation and migration, and increased macrophage apoptosis and efferocytosis defects resulted in the increase of plaque necrosis.Further understanding the mechanism of lesion cells insulin resistance involved in the development of atherosclerosis may make for new drugs.
