Abstract

A review on the structure of water in aqueous polymer systems as revealed by Raman spectroscopy is presented. Various interpretations and analysis procedures for Raman bands of liquid water which have been proposed are introduced. The structure and hydrogen-bonding properties of water which exist in aqueous polymer solutions and gels are described. Effects of chemical properties of polymer chains and size of water domains surrounded by polymer chains on the structure of water are discussed.
