Abstract

This book give an admirably edited account of the profound progress made in the last five years in the application to studies of the tissues of the eye of new methods such as electron microscopy, histo- and cytochemistry, autoradiography, and specialized techniques of immunology, biochemistry, and biophysics. It seems to me that this publication fills a definite need because of the diversity of the subject matter on one hand, and on the other, the inquisitiveness and high competence of the contributors. At first glance, the 566 pages document a kind of scientific explosion as new concepts emerge from the voluminous body of new information derived from modern investigative approaches.
