Abstract
The positive parity spectrum of 20Ne is studied using a complete sd basis with additional two- and four-hole states. The effect of promoting two particles to the 2p-1f shell is also examined. A central interaction is assumed and the unperturbed energies of the particle-hole states are taken as free parameters. E2 transition rates and quadrupole moments are calculated and compared with experiment. Agreement with known energy levels is good, but the calculated E2 transition rate from the second 0 + state to the first 2 + state is too small.
