Abstract

Electric surface potential (δV) and surface tension measurements of aqueous solutions of some aliphatic compounds were used to determine the surface activity, orientation of molecules at the water/air interface, effective dipole moments (connected with water molecules, hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups), and local dielectric permittivities of the surface layer.
