Abstract

Abstract The molecular refraction of benzyl and tolyl polysulfide have been measured. The molecular refraction of benzyl and tolyl polysulfides increases with an increasing number of sulfur atoms by 9–10 units per sulfur atom. From the fact of constancy of increase of molecular refraction per sulfur, the structure of polysulfides is considered to be linear.
