Abstract

The paper addresses the formation of a structurally changed contact surface layer in a superabrasive wheel and workpiece under thermal and plasma actions, which occurs through redistribution of elemental composition in the material subjected to such actions. The change of the elemental composition is shown to have an effect on mechanical characteristics of the contact surfaces and thus makes it possible to find conditions for improving their wear resistance.
