Abstract

The study describes the results of diagnosing the condition of steel and fibreglass lancet paw shovels. The study was carried out using a 3D model of the lancet paw shovel. This type of lancet paw shovels is used in harvesters from various manufacturers. The 3D model was developed using a modern software packages such as Autodesk Inventor and Solid Works. The model was calculated with a distributed force of 650 N, corresponding to the tractive resistance of the part in operation at a speed of up to 1.93 m/s. The load was applied to the nose and wings of the lancet paw shovel. As a result of the study, it was found that the strains in the 5 mm thick fiberglass lancet paw shovel were approximately 2 times less than strains in a similar steel lancet paw shovel. A strength factor of the steel and fiberglass lancet paw shovel was also determined, and its value was 20. However, the strength distribution over the part surface is not uniform, resulting in a higher durability of the fiberglass lancet paw shovel.
