Abstract

Chinnor Quarry is a geological Site of Special Scientific Interest which exposes fine sections of the Lower Chalk and the basal part of the Middle Chalk. After a brief outline of the nomenclature and stratigraphy of the Chalk succession of the area, the quarry section is described in more detail, with particular reference to the vertical distribution of macrofossils and their significance in zonation of the sequence.
