Abstract

The stoichiometry of the hydration process in the hardened paste of C3S, alite and β-C2S was investigated on the basis of surface area and crystal structure data calculations of the CSH-gel. The chemical compound of calcium silicate hydrate forming in the paste hydration of C3S, alite and β-C2S cured at 5, 25 and 50°C has a definite and stable composition during the whole hydration period, corresponding to the formula C4S3H2.
