Abstract

Abstract When a pulsed nitrogen laser pumped dye laser was tuned to the two-photon resonant excitation of atomic calcium, laser action was observed at the wavelengths 585.7, 646.0, 671.7, 714.8 nm and 2.06, 2.5 μm. The resonant two-photon excitation, the multiphoton ionization spectroscopy for detecting the two-photon excitation processes, and the collision induced spin change energy transfer process are discussed.
