Abstract

A study was undertaken to determine the role of women radiologists in organized radiology on a national level. Statistics relating to age and sex distribution of radiologists, editorial representation of women radiologists, and membership of women radiologists in upper echelons of radiologic societies were analyzed. In relation to their numbers, women radiologists were found to be under-represented in all categories studied; some possible contributing factors are noted. Greater participation of women radiologists should be supported and encouraged.
