Abstract

A new prototype BaF/sub 2/-TMAE (tetrakis dimethyl-aminoethylene) detector has been developed for use in a positron camera. Results of projection imaging are presented. The projection images obtained with the 100-cm/sup 2/ sensitive area detector represent the first occasion a distributed source has been used in conjunction with a BaF/sub 2/-TMAE detector for positron imaging. This is also the first result of 5-ns timing, 5-mm detector resolution and an efficiency of 20%, with the same chamber operating conditions. The chamber can operate in a stable condition for periods of several hours.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
