Abstract

The first record of the crab spider genus Tmarus Simon 1875 (Araneae: Thomisidae) in Kansas was the discovery of an immature female Tmarus angulatus (Walckenaer 1837) in Manhattan, Riley County (Scheffer 1904). Other studies have reported the presence of this species in scattered locations in the eastern third of the state (Fitch 1963, Guarisco et al. 2003). Recent field work has uncovered the presence of Tmarus rubromaculatus Keyserling 1880 in the vicinity of Pittsburg, Crawford County, within the Cherokee Lowlands Physiographic Province of southeastern Kansas.
