Abstract

1. The reduction in fatigue limit induced by increasing the specimen length is associated with the statistical nature of the size effect. 2. The reduction in fatigue limit induced by increasing the specimen diameter is associated not only with the statistical factor, but also, in all probability, with differences in the stress state.
