Abstract
The pure states with Gaussian wave functions and the states with Gaussian Wigner functions are quasi-free states of the C ∗-algebra of canonical commutation relations. This remark furnishes a new, more transparent characterization of Gaussian functions on the phase space which are Wigner functions.
