Abstract
The paper analyzes the state of development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Russian Federation in the context of key indicators: the number of subjects, financial results, turnover and average number of employees. The purpose of the study is to assess the state of development of small and medium-sized enterprises in modern economic conditions. The research methodology is based on the application of statistical dynamic analysis. To visualize the development of the economic situation, the method of graphic images was applied. The results of the analysis showed that, in general, the number of small and medium-sized enterprises is increasing. Nevertheless, the structure of such growth is heterogeneous. In particular, it was confirmed that the greatest contribution to the increase in the number of SMEs is made by microenterprises. The results of statistical analysis can be used in building a comprehensive policy to manage the level of SME development, including the selection of support tools.
