Abstract

The National Collegiate Athletic Association, founded in 1905, has without doubt been the most dominant voice in the governance of intercollegiate athletics. Nonetheless, there have been challenges to the scope and power of the decisions of the NCAA, specifically decisions of its enforcement arms. A major question addressed by the Supreme Court evaluates claims that the NCAA is not a state actor and hence its decisions do not need to comport explicitly to due process requirements.
