Abstract
The standard energies of combustion in fluorine of two samples of uranium dioxide of compositions UO 2.000 and UO 2.023 have been determined in a bomb calorimeter. The standard enthalpies of formation ΔH f o(UO 2.000, c) = − (1085.1 ± 2.5) kJ mol −1 and ΔH f o(UO 2.023, c) = − (1090.2 ± 2.8) kJ mol −1 were derived. These values were compared with literature data and the recommended CODATA standard enthalpy of formation ΔH f o(UO 2, c).
