Abstract

P NOTES have reported on catalytic effects 1 and surface combustion at hypersonic speeds. To date, however, the effect of the rotation of a body about its axis has been neglected. The purpose of this note is to present some results of an investigation into the effect of spin on the hypersonic laminar boundary layer. The equations pertinent to the study of the laminar boundary layer on an axially-symmetric rotating body traveling at hypersonic speed include the conservation of mass, momentum, energy, and chemical species.
