Abstract

In this study, a new experimental annealing procedure, which isbased on combined UV(253.7±1.2 nm) irradiation and thermal annealing(300 °C for 30 min followed by 90 °C for 6 h) is introducedto reduce the large standard deviation (8-20% between consecutive tencycles) observed after standard annealing (400 °C for 1 h followedby 100 °C for 10 min) on the main dosimetric peak 5 ofthermoluminescence dosimeter TLD-100. The results indicate that when thecombined UV irradiation and thermal annealing protocol is applied, thestandard deviation in the area of the main dosimetric peak 5 is reduced toless than 10% for the consecutive ten-cycle operation.
