Abstract

The stability of three components plasma (electron, ion and beam) is investigated mainly by means of a graphical solution of the dispersion equation.Three types of growing plasma waves are manifested in kinetic theory approach. The first type is the electron wave due to the coupling of an electron beam with the electron. The second type is the electron-ion wave. (Hybrid acoustic mole) due to the coupling of the electron beam with the ion or an ion beam with the electron. The third is the ion wave due to the coupling of the ion beam with the ion.We determined the region of instability as a function of wave number and beam velocity, and show how the region depend on beam temperature, beam density and ion mass. The shielding effect and the Landau damping effect of the electron appear in the region of the electron-ion wave in case of the electron beam and in the region of the ion wave in case of the ion beam. For the ion beam, we give the maximum-growth rate as a function of beam velocity, and show how the rate depends on the temperature of the electron. The structure of the unstable region is also indicated by the lines of constant growth rate.
