Abstract
Since the establishments of Newtons law of universal gravity and the system of ordinary differential equations of the solar system three hundred years ago, there has been a huge literature devoted to the subject on the stability of the solar system. In this note, we introduce briefly the most important historical events and recent progresses, with emphasis on the mathematics motivated by understanding this fundamental scientific problem.
