Abstract

One week after the Cleveland phase of the civil war in the CIO was ended, a Congressional subcommittee made public a report on "Low-Income Families and Economic Stability." The tragedy of the split in the ranks of labor was underlined in the income figures: More than 8,000,000 families and single individuals in the United States received less than $1000 cash income in 1948.
