Abstract

The Sb-doped SnO2 loaded on spent FCC catalyst (Sb–SnO2/FCC) composite has been fabricated via impregnation method. The total voltammetric charge (q*T) and outer voltammetric charge (q*O) for composites are tested with the different scan rates. The q*T and q*O of the Sb–SnO2/FCC electrode are 0.22 and 0.24, respectively. The Sb–SnO2 can improve the electrocatalytic active surface for electrocatalytic degradation methylene blue. The degradation efficiency of the methylene blue is measured by the spectrophotometry. The ·OH, produced in an electrochemical reaction, is the most effective species for methylene blue degradation. The Sb–SnO2/FCC electrode with large surface and effectively electrochemical active exhibits excellent electrochemical performance. About 95.0% of methylene blue has been degraded with Sb–SnO2/FCC electrode for 3 h. From these results, the Sb–SnO2/FCC electrode is effective to degrade methylene blue by an electrocatalytic process, which can provide a potential method to dispose the spent FCC catalyst in industry.
