Abstract

The momentum spectrum of muons arriving at sea-level at zenith angles between 83° and 90° have been determined using the Nottingham spectrograph. Using the measured 30° spectrum pion and kaon production spectra have been determined assuming either all-pion or all K µ2 parentage of sea-level muons. It is estimated that the kaon contribution to the sea-level muon flux for muon production momenta in the range 40 to 100 GeV/c is not more than about 30%.
