Abstract
ABSTRACT Popova and Vitrichenko (1978) published data and a discussion on the variable KR Aurigae. The spectrum is that of a cataclysmic variable showing Balmer emission, weak He II lambda 4686, and a blue continuum with a power-law flux distribution. The star thus appears to be a cataclysmic variable of the class normally in a high state. Shafter (1982) reported the discovery of a velocity periodicity of 3.907 hours during a low optical state. In connection with the present investigation, spectroscopic observations were made of KR Aur over several seasons during its (normal) high state with the image-tube spectrograph of a 1.9-m telescope. The image-tube data were recorded photographically or with a Reticon 1872 element diode array. The spectra cover the range from 4000 to 5000 A and show Balmer emission as the only persistent strong features. All spectra were measured for radial velocity of strong lines, as well as their profiles and intensities.
