Abstract

Arc spectra of powdered samples on carbon electrodes and a grating spectrograph were used for the estimation of iron, aluminium, silicon, manganese, magnesium, vanadium, nickel, sodium and calcium in petroleum ash. A spectroscopic buffer of nine times as much lithium carbonate as sample was used; and the method was calibrated with synthetic standards. The wave-lengths used are tabulated, and the standard deviation of the precision is indicated.
