Abstract

We demonstrate the effect of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) on the conversion efficiency and the nature of noise transfer from the mixing frequencies to the generated frequencies during the wavelength conversion of 10 Gbps amplitude modulated signal using four-wave mixing in a highly nonlinear fiber. The impact of SBS is found to be different for the Stokes and anti-Stokes components.
