Abstract

The properties of polywater resemble those of mixtures of short-chain carboxylates and carbonates. Such mixtures could be formed by handling capillaries during their preparation, and they are present in optical tissues. It is suggested that polywater consists of impurities introduced from these or similar sources. Condensates containing polywater are not formed when apparatus is steamed thoroughly.
