Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of problems of modern design of settlements such as cottage settlements in accordance with the criteria of the concept of sustainable development. It analyses various scientific and regulatory approaches to the concept of "cottage settlement", examines interpretations of definitions of this type of settlements and their distinctive features. The concept of sustainable development, as well as the formation and design of cottage settlements in accordance with the criteria of this concept, is characterized. Modern requirements to the environment, as well as social, economic and environmental aspects of its creation are considered. The features of cottage community design in accordance with the principles of sustainable development are derived. Three different examples of global experience in the design and construction of such settlements are evaluated for the presence of sustainability factors.
