The specifics of low-rise construction in Germany

Abstract

The article offers an analysis of low-rise construction in Germany in 2020-2021. Attention is paid to the characteristics of economic indicators that indicate the positive dynamics of the development of housing construction. Conclusions are drawn that the construction complex is developing rapidly. Even in the crisis years of the pandemic and lockdowns, the growth of low-rise construction continues. Examples of potentially strong positions of the German construction industry are given. Low-rise construction in Germany is characterized by reliability and high quality of buildings, which are distinguished by a unique flavor. German pedantry and strict control represent the specifics of house construction. The use of modern technologies contributes to the active development of the industry. An important point of conducting competent construction, starting from investment plans and ending with the commissioning of the object, is the German construction legislation, which regulates in detail the processes of low-rise housing construction. The main construction technologies used are frame – panel, panel (large-element), modular and glued timber. Among the most popular low-rise types of housing construction in Germany in 2020-2021 are: Massivhaus, Fertighaus, Blockhaus and Skeletthaus. A serious aspect of urban construction and planning is the State's environmental protection activities. Germany has adopted laws regulating the processes of urban development, strictly controlling the rules of natural use.
