Abstract

The heat capacities of three PdGd alloys containing 3.0, 5.0 and 7.7 at.% Gd in solution have been measured from about 1.5 to above 60 K. The magnetic peaks have been analyzed quantitatively in terms of a spectrum of Curie temperatures within each alloy. The magnetic entropies correspond to a spin quantum number of about 2.8 associated with each Gd atom. The variation of the apparent Debye temperature with actual temperature for each of the alloys has been determined
