Abstract

An inconspicuous announcement signaled the successful and unobtrusive end to a long and relentless struggle of the American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM) to define the field of Pain Medicine. The article in the ASA Newsletter [1] stated: “In an April notice to local Medicare carriers, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) instructed them to obtain the latest changes to the list of Provider Taxonomy Codes.
