Abstract

Current spatial diffusion theory is reviewed, and some research lacunae identified. Spatial implications of variations in production opportunities on the farm, of ‘sociological’ variables relating to resistance to innovation, as well as a more sophisticated formulation of the contact-to-innovation process need to be considered. Substantive analysis on information networks in Southern Morocco illustrates some of the ways in which the neglected variables in spatial diffusion theory operate.
