Abstract

Abstract The results of field‐station observations conducted during the wintering period December 1973 to January 1975 on King George (Waterloo) Island are described. The paper gives data on the numbers of the southern elephant seal, its distribution along the coast of Fildes Peninsula by seasons of the year, the age‐sex distribution of molting sites as well as information on reproduction, molting, behavior and other aspects of the biology of these mammals.
