Abstract
An interesting and important feature of the geomorphology of the northwestern coastal zone of Norway is the marked seaward slope which in many districts bounds the rocky skjaergard (or strandflat) zone towards the region of the banks where loose material, evidently largely of glacial origin, covers the rock surface. The slope has for long distances a fairly straight or regularly curved trend and has (since 1933) by the present writer been assumed to represent a fault zone along which the land mass is more or less uplifted.
