Abstract

This chapter discusses business problems that supply chain solves and people whom they solve it with. We look at the significance of solving challenges that a business faces through the lens of supply chain. In order to understand business challenges, we first look at learnings from early supply chains. We then look into business opportunities in the modern supply chain and discuss about lean supply chain and benefits of lean as a solution. Challenges are solved by collaborating with people. This chapter focuses on the various stakeholders of the supply chain organization, its internal and external partners. It covers the scope of their interaction and partnership with the supply chain management team. Suppliers are also key collaborators and stakeholders involved in solving supply chain and business challenges. However, the extent of partnership differs from supplier to supplier which is managed by the supply chain team.
