Abstract

The solubility of GeO 2 was measured in dilute aqueous NaOH solutions at 25°C. The data indicate the predominance of the following reaction from 0·03 to 0·07 M NaOH: GeO 2(s) + OH − = HGeO 3 −. This conclusion was corroborated by conductometric titrations. The acid dissociation constant of metagermanic acid was calculated: K 5 = 2·75 × 10 −12.
