Abstract

The solubilities of He, Ne, Ar, Kr, CO 2, CH 4, CF 4, and SF 6 in the three isomeric xylenes have been determined at atmospheric pressure in the range 283 to 313 K. From the experimental results partial molar Gibbs energy, enthalpy, and entropy of solution for 1 atm partial pressure of gas and 298.15 K have been calculated. These values have been compared with results obtained through application of the scaled particle theory to gas solubilities. Agreement is generally satisfactory.
