Abstract

Women’s business in Russia is distancing itself from feminism. Paradoxically, the discourse of diversity and equality in the corporate ecosystem supports parallel and opposing lines of reasoning: the solidarity of women in competition with men and a specific female leadership and management style not devoid of traditional stereotypes. This study draws on 20 interviews with women in executive positions posted on the Mediametrix platform to examine how they make sense of this paradox. The corporate ecosystem produces its own special discourse, built on the balance between the ambitions of career-building and the inertial power of traditional stereotypes.
