Abstract

Background and Aims: According to the World Health Organization, the prevalence of the metabolic syndrome (MetS) is increasing rapidly worldwide, affecting approximately 20% of the global population. The present study aimed at investigating the spatial variability of the MetS’s prevalence and at identifying its socioeconomic and environmental determinants.
