Abstract

One of the areas which is new to social work but where social workers are beginning to realize the extent of their potential contribution is in the area of Family Planning. In both the developed and developing countries the need for Family Planning services is vital and the need to work out models with the participation of the various disciplines is an important one in terms of success. In Israel, Family Planning on any large scale is still in its infancy. At Beilinson Hospital, one of the three largest teaching hospitals in the country, the social worker's participation in the organization and operation of a planning of a Family Planning service commenced with the opening of a professional Social Service Department at the hospital. A budget had been created by the Department of Demography, at the Prime Minister's office, To demonstrate the social worker's participation on a Family Planning Service and to create opportunities for the education of social work students in this area.
