Abstract
The core of the changes taking place in our country is the transition from an economy based on the compulsory and forced transfer of resources by the monopoly state to an economy based on the market. State redistribution—the nonequivalent, vertical redistribution of output through the mechanism of political power—is being replaced by equivalent, horizontal exchange. Along with this change in economic relations, a transformation in the very essence of social relations is taking place. The criterion (the fundamental division) of the social structure is being redefined.
