Abstract

The effects of day care on four areas of early childhood socialization were examined in the present article. These four areas were: (a) mother-child attachment; (b) curiosity and play behavior; (c) peer relationships and influences; and (d) sex-typing and sex-role development. Based on the research, suggestions were made to practitioners of ways they could use the day care experience to foster children's social development.
