Abstract

Rats given four running trials in an NRNR reward sequence did not perform differently in extinction than rats given an RRRR reward sequence. When 16 R trials were interpolated between the initial sequences and extinction, a PREE was observed. The results were interpreted as supporting a counterconditioning but not a sequential model.
