Abstract

A theory of the nature of the fundamental transducing unit in striated muscle is applied to some recent experimental results on the variation of isometric tension and stiffness resonance phenomena as functions of ATP concentration. Both are accounted for satisfactorily without the introduction of arbitrary curve fitting procedures.
