Abstract
This paper argues that we may be witnessing a paradigm shift in theoretical approaches to skill formation. It reviews the papers in this issue of the Journal of Education and Work and suggests that they exemplify many of the desirable qualities inherent in a paradigm shift involving a multidisciplinary approach to the question of routes to a high skills economy.
