Abstract
In the case of a pair-interaction, a geom of the canonical transformation method is given, and a criterion is deduced to distinguish among their solutions that one which gives the lowest average energy in the quasi-particle vacuum. After this transformation, a t-matrix can be defined, which is non-singular if all quasi-particle energies are positive.
